I am an award winning writer and teacher with a successful record of designing and leading active large lectures, peer-to-peer learning, technology-enhanced learning (EASL rooms, iPad courses), and Active, Problem, & Team Based Learning.
As a teacher I stay current on instructional technology and research related to the scholarship of teaching and learning in order to maintain a toolbox of best practices in designing experiences that support student learning. My ultimate goal is not to deliver the greatest lecture or write the perfect comment on a student essay, but rather to meet students where they are and support their climb to higher levels of achievement. |
Faculty DeveloperI have always taken a leadership role in faculty development in my department. This year, armed with new knowledge and skills following the Biggio (Re)Design workshop, I have acquired funding and support for more ambitious faculty development projects that model and promote the power and importance of Networked Improvement for faculty and students.

Instructional Designer
The Biggio Summer (Re)Design introduced me to Dee Fink’s model of backward design which has transformed not only my approach to instructional design but also my awareness and commitment to improvement science strategies, the prevailing theme of which is the importance of assessment. Briefly, if you can measure it, you can improve it.

Interdisciplinary CollaboratorA powerful outcome of interdisciplinary collaboration for students is the high impact challenge to transfer knowledge and skills from one arena to another. For faculty, collaboration helps to better understand challenges faced by students outside of our own class, which promotes integrated teaching and better learning outcomes.
